Frequently Asked Questions
Let us help answer the most common questions you might have
What is a “Terms and Conditions” checkbox?
An Agree to terms and conditions checkbox protects your business by requiring that customers acknowledge the rules they must abide by when purchasing goods from your store.
Activities that may require such an agreement include:
- Age limitation for minors
- Downloading resources
- Complying with GDPR policy
- Refund or order cancellation terms
- Being aware of the delivery timeline
How to add terms and conditions checkbox to WooCommerce checkout?
Creating I Agree with the terms and conditions checkbox takes only a few simple steps, as the Additional Terms plugin will be doing all the heavy lifting for you behind the scenes:
- Navigate to WooCommerce → Settings → Additional Terms.
- Go to the Terms section, and click on the Add new button.
- Select the Active status from the dropdown menu.
- Enter a Notice (label) for the input field that appears next to the checkbox.
- Click on the Save changes button.
Congratulations! 🎉 Your first additional T&C checkbox has now been set up.
Can I show the terms and conditions checkboxes based on conditions?
Yes. If you need to make complex or interactive checkboxes, conditional logic allows you to show or hide fields based on the various attributions of the products in the shopping cart.
A good strategy to enhance user experience on your WooCommerce checkout flow is to show or hide checkbox fields only when it is appropriate.
Do I need an additional checkbox?
Think about the scenario where you must obtain legal approval before providing your services or selling any goods.
In that case, adding pertinent additional I Agree checkboxes is strongly advised for legal compliance because it is simple to implement, simple for users to interact with, and very clearly communicates that consent is being requested.
How does the extra T&C checkbox function?
If agreeing to your terms is required, customers must tick the checkbox before proceeding with their order. If a customer doesn't tick the checkbox before clicking the Place Order button, an alert with your own customized text will show and prevent them from continuing the checkout.
You can easily decide whether to open a link to your terms page, embed your terms into the order-review table (which behaves similarly to WooCommerce T&C), or display them as a popup overlay.
Is an “I Agree” checkbox legally binding?
Yes, it is! Any T&C checkbox will almost certainly be held as legally binding if ever disputed in a court of law.
For any agreement to be legally binding, it must be shown that both parties were aware of the arrangement and adequately consented or agreed. When a user checks the terms checkbox, this is a strong, overt act showing consent or agreement.
Does this plugin integrate with multilingual stores?
Yes. The plugin is translation-ready and has a special config file to fully support both WPML and Polylang plugins.
Can I still use the plugin when my license expires?
Yes, but you won't get any updates, bug fixes, or support, and we cannot guarantee that the plugin will continue to function when WordPress or WooCommerce releases major updates.
Once license updates expire, you’re welcome to stay on your last supported version of the plugin, at no extra charge.
Can I change the domain associated with the license?
Yes. You can unregister the plugin on one domain and then activate it on another domain with no issues. The license verification server checks against the number of active installs rather than the specific domain names.
A single license key can be used to register the plugin on 3 (three) WordPress instances, and you are free to share your key with other people or co-workers.
Do you offer lifetime licenses?
No. We do not offer any lifetime licenses for our plugins.
Is my license set up for auto-renewal?
No, we do not keep credit card details on file or engage in auto-renewals for purchases made. Your license is perpetual and includes one year’s worth of free updates and support.
Your license is valid for a year from the date you activate it. For example, if you purchase and activate your license on 18th January, 2021, you’ll get regular updates to the plugin up to and including 17th January, 2022.
To receive updates after that date, you’ll need to renew your license.
Additionally, you can extend your license if it hasn’t expired yet. For example, if you purchased in April 2022 and renewed early in January 2023, your license would expire in April 2024, giving you two full years.
Do you offer a free trial?
No. We don’t offer free trials for our plugins. However, we have a few ways you can check the plugin before purchasing:
- Additional Terms plugin has a free version available on the WordPress.org repository that we recommend you to install and try before deciding to buy the pro version.
- PRO plugin has extensive documentation outlining all its capabilities and features, which you can learn more about by clicking here.
- You can rely on our 14-day refund policy if it turns out the plugin isn't functioning properly for you. Click here to read our refund policy.
